Before parts can be
checked and measured, they first have to be manufactured. To this end, the
design engineer prepares a technical drawing of the part. This
drawing of the part is called desired geometry or better: Nominal
geometry.

The technical drawing shows the part from different views, this, for
example, being a view of the part from the front.
In this way, the entire part is usually made up of different
standard geometric elements. These
geometric elements are called nominal geometric elements.
