Learning target: The objective is this unit is to have a better understanding of different geometric elements including their parameters, number of points needed mathematically, and familiarity of vectors and normal vectors.
   


The objective of coordinate metrology is to detect geometric elements and to determine their dimensions and positions in the coordinate system by measuring points ("measuring points", "probing points"). A technical drawing allows each part to be broken down into geometric elements (see figure on the right). These elements are especially the following standard geometric elements. These elements are:
