The most
difficult geometric element is the point. A point is distinguished by
the following characteristics:
|
no
extension |
|
no
direction |
It is described by three coordinates (x,y,z). These three coordinates are also
called local vector .
A local vector or briefly vector is
an arrow pointing from the origin of the coordinate system (zero point) to
the point P (x,y,z). The local vector is defined by the number triple (x,y,z)
of the coordinates of the point P.
Tip: In practice it is very difficult to measure a
point directly by probing it once. A much more stable solution (in
particular with respect to measuring uncertainty) is to calculate a point as
an intersection of other standard geometric elements. |
