Compared with discrete-point probing, in scanning the surface of a part is continuously probed. Tracking of the stylus system takes place in such a way that it is always deflected. The acquisition of the measuring points during the measurement process takes place as a function of time or path. Special probes equipped with a measuring stylus system are used for this.
This is why, compared with standard probing, many more points are recorded by scanning. If a circle is probed using, for example, the usual 8 points (standard probing using a triggering or measuring stylus), scanning of the circles will easily record a few hundred points. |
